National Grappling Rating Service : 2007 Season
"RANKED - Get In The Hunt"
The Ranked point formula is based on three factors:
- What Place you took (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
- The division level, (Novice, Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced/Expert)
- The total number of competitors at the event.
These 3 factors are entered into a formula and the Ranked points are determined. If you place at a tournament with
800 competitors, you will earn more points than a tournament that had 500 competitors. You will receive more points
if you place in Advanced then if you placed in Intermediate.
Competitors will only be awarded points for 2 divisions per age group per tournament. Some tournaments allow you to
compete in more than 2 divisions in a particular age group. The experience you gain from competing multiple times is
priceless but also unfair to those who do not have that opportunity. To level the playing field, NAGA will only be awarding
points for one No-Gi division and one Gi division per age group. Adults who compete in multiple age groups (for example
Directors and Masters) will be awarded points for 1 no-gi and 1 gi division per age group. Kids who compete in kids and
teens will be awarded points for 1 no-gi and 1 gi division per age group.
In past seasons, competitors were Ranked only according to their age. A 35 year old competitor could compete in Masters
(30-39 years old, his age category) and Adults (18+) and all points earned would be combined into one category. Now points
are awarded according to which age category you compete in. Your Adult win will go towards Adult points, your Masters win
will go towards Masters points, no more combining.
